DRINK
Ask for local wines when dining out. You won't be disappointed. Espresso and cappuccino pair perfectly with croissants delivered fresh daily to most bars, restaurants, and convenience stores.
SHOP
Several shops along the Varenna lakefront feature the work of local artists and jewelers. Take the ferry to Mennagio for unique, upscale stores and incredibly friendly proprietors. It's a bit larger than Varenna with an expanded and picturesque central shopping district. We love the home decor shops and children's clothing boutiques. Stop at Il Ristorante di Paolo for a lakeside meal and view you'll never forget.

Visit Castello Di Vezio
This castle dates back to the late 11th century and once contained tombs, weapons, and armor from the Iron Age. It also contained dungeons built during World War I. Today the castle is home to gardens and to birds of prey raised by a local falconer. http://www.castellodivezio.it/
